Therapy

For children and teenagers

The first 1-2 sessions will involve an assessment, where I will meet with your child or teenager to build rapport and get to know them, including exploring what is going well, what they are struggling with, and their hopes for therapy. The assessment tends to also involve meeting with you as the parent or carer to gather further information, including your hopes for the intervention.

When working with children and young people under 16 it is also often helpful and important to involve parents and carers in the therapeutic process. The degree of involvement varies depending on the presenting difficulties, the child’s age, and what is felt to be most useful for the child following an assessment. This will be discussed at the assessment stage and can be an ongoing conversation throughout the therapy process.

How often will sessions take place?

Sessions tend to take place weekly, on a consistent day and time. Sometimes sessions may need to be held more frequently for a period of time (e.g. to help a child through a particularly difficult time such as returning to school) and other times sessions may be held on a less frequent basis depending on circumstances.

Where are sessions held?

Sessions take place either online via a video platform (e.g. Zoom) or face-to-face at the Cherry Tree Therapy Centre in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, IG9 6EU.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions cost £130 for 50 minutes. Any shorter or longer sessions will be charged at a pro-rata rate. Any additional work, such as letter or report writing, or liaison with other services, is also charged at £130 per 50 minutes.

Sessions can be self-funded, however I also see people who have private health insurance. I am currently registered with Bupa, Aviva, AXA, and Cigna, however if you are registered with a different company I can look into registering with them.
